HENRI LLOYD WEYMOUTH REGATTA SOCIAL DIARY - Keelboats
What turns a good regatta into a great regatta? ……………….the socials!
This year is no exception, with beer and wine promotions, sea shanties for a good old fashioned sing song, prize raffle, daily prize giving, fancy dress competition and of course the games, which new for this year will include space hopper races, with a difference.
Friday night at Weymouth Sailing Club starts with the Commodore’s reception, followed by the daily prize giving quickly followed by the Palmers Brewery promotion with local ales at a £1 per pint. Pete and Alison will be in the galley with a selection of freshly cooked food for your delectation.
Saturday evening is crammed, your hosts again are Weymouth Sailing Club, following the daily prize giving, we tuck into Brugal rum, produced in the Dominican Republic. The fancy dress theme is “old sea dog” and prizes will be given for the best dressed individuals and crew. Next will be the turn of the Exmouth Shantymen to get our vocal cords going, during the break the games will commence with a Henri Lloyd twist. Back to the Exmouth Shantymen before dancing the rest of the night away to recorded music from popular beat combos
Sunday is the regatta prize giving and The Royal Dorset Yacht Club plays host. The bar opens at 1430 with a Barbie from 1530. In attendance will be our Weymouth and Portland Mayor to hand out the prizes from 1630.
